Gutter Installations in Garretson, SD

One storm took about 50 feet of gutter off a Garretson, SD pole barn, and it left the property owner with a question that matters to every homeowner in the Dakotas: what if it happens again?

The winds, strong enough to be tornado-level, also damaged the barn’s soffits. With no gutters, water was running off the roofline unchecked, which can mean erosion around the foundation, moisture getting into the building, and further damage to the roof edge. He needed the damage repaired quickly, and he wanted to know the repair would hold up the next time.

We inspected the barn, documented the soffit damage, and measured the missing run of gutter. Then we gave him two options to match his budget and priorities.

The first was a standard replacement: new soffits and 6-inch K-style gutters along the barn. It’s a proven, cost-effective way to restore drainage and get the barn back to normal.

The second was an upgrade to Gutter Shutter. For a client who wants to be as sure as possible this won’t repeat, we recommended replacing the gutters with Gutter Shutter instead. It’s a seamless, no-sag system with built-in guards, designed to handle South Dakota’s toughest storms without pulling away from the structure. For a property that had already lost its gutters once, it offered a long-term answer rather than a temporary fix.

After severe weather, replacing what was lost is the minimum. Property owners in storm-prone areas should also ask whether the replacement is built to stay put the next time. We quote both the standard repair and the upgrade so clients can decide with full information. If your property has storm damage, or you’re tired of worrying about the next storm, contact us for a free estimate.

Keith is looking to get gutter on the back of his building to help protect the foundation. As the building has not had a lot of care in the last handful of years. As the wear of not having gutters is taking a toll on the building foundation and the stair case. He is looking to start getting proactive to save it.

The one-piece covered seamless gutter system on Lana's house in Garretson were damaged by spring storms and due for replacement. After some searching, she came across our seamless covered system and was interested in learning about the upgrades we offered. Once she set up an appointment, Jason Borresch, our owner, was ready to visit her home and draw up a proposal for our seamless gutter guard system.

To fully protect the home, 246 feet of gutter would be needed, fully interconnected around every corner of the home. Our system uses strip miters to provide a sealed connection point that allows for flow between perpendicular gutter runs, and Lana's home would need 6 installed. During the interim of the sales appointment and installation, Lana decided to make a change to her downspout setup. Rather than having one drain into the backyard, she wanted it to extend 31 feet across the side of the house and drain down the driveway's slope. We adjusted our plan and waited for insurance approval to get the job done.

Once everything was ready to go, a crew was able to visit Garretson in early September. Two full days of work were needed to fully equip Lana's home with all 246 feet of Gutter Shutter and 67 feet of downspout. If your home and gutter system has been damaged by storms, don't wait for water problems to start! Contact our office today and see what gutter replacement options Gutter Shutter can offer you!
