Orrin was tried of the mess, the hassle and the safety risks of climbing onto his roof to clean out clogged gutters. Over time the build up of debris, the standing makes it harder and hard to clean out. Cleaning the gutters had turned into a dirty, time consuming chore he didn't want to deal with anymore.

Solution

Jason went out and did a through inspection to see what was all going on with the gutter. The clogging gutters and the standing water is generally a symptom of a problem. After carefully looking to see that the gutters were not slopped properly allowing the water to flow towards the downspout and get out of the gutter, they are also a spike and ferrule gutter system. This is an older style of gutter where a long nail is driven through the face of the gutter and into the fascia board. Now this was a good idea in the past, however the gutters are not able to be adjusted. So if not installed properly at the beginning.. you will be in trouble. If your house shifts as they tend to do in the Midwest with our changing climate, your could have trouble with the slop or flow of the gutter system. If you try to remove the nail to re-slope the gutter, most of the time the gutter will get damaged.

The Best solution for Orrin was to update his gutter system to a newer style with an inside bracket system. Lets get those gutters sloped properly and keep things flowing to the downspout. Another great update to the system is larger downspouts. This will ensure that what gets in the gutter should be able to get out of the downspout. 

Orrin can now stay safely on the ground while his home stays protected from water damage and gutter overflow.
