Properly Installed Gutters Pair Great with Metal Roofs.
Challenge
This home recently transitioned from an asphalt shingle roof to a new metal roof — a major improvement in durability and long‑term weather protection. But once the roof was installed, it became clear that the existing gutter system wasn’t prepared for the increased workload that comes with metal roofing.
Metal roofs shed water, snow, and ice faster and with more force than asphalt shingles. When we inspected the home, we found that most of the gutters were missing their bracketing system, leaving long sections unsupported. Brackets are essential for stability, especially in the Midwest where heavy rain, high‑volume runoff, and freeze‑thaw cycles put constant pressure on gutter systems.
Solution
To protect the home and ensure the new roof performed the way it should, we recommended upgrading the gutter system and installing a complete, reinforced bracketing system. This would give the gutters the strength and stability needed to manage fast runoff and withstand the extreme weather conditions common in our region.
